Yerevan.Today has learned that the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, went abroad Sunday night.

For what purpose did he leave? And how did he leave, considering that there is a court ban on his leaving the Armenian border? For the answers to these questions, Yerevan.Today on Monday turned to Bagrat Mikoyan, coordinator of the second president's office.

In response, Mikoyan said: "President Kocharyan left Armenia for a week yesterday. The president's legal team had petitioned to the court to get permission [for Kocharyan] to leave [Armenia], making use of the fact that there is a long break—until September 20—during [Kocharyan’s ongoing court] sessions. The court has allowed him to be absent from Armenia on August 22-29. President Kocharyan has taken advantage of that opportunity and left. He will return on August 29."

The coordinator of Kocharyan's office, however, did not provide details to Yerevan.Today's question about which country the ex-president was visiting and why, and noted that this visit is private.

And asked whether Robert Kocharyan went to Russia, Bagrat Mikoyan responded: "No. President Kocharyan did not go to the Russian Federation; he left for another country."
