The resistance movement violated the schedule for surrendering the country; the disaster that we have these days was planned earlier and on a larger scale; in this sense, the achievements of the resistance movement are obvious, Ishkhan Saghatelyan, MP from the Hayastan parliamentary faction and representative of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun Supreme Body, told Yerkir Media, Channel 5, and Second Public TV Company, today.

"The resistance movement has not yet reached its main goal which is eliminating the current authorities and preventing disasters, but I am sure that by assessing our gaps and making the right conclusions, we can achieve the elimination of these authorities, the main thing is not to despair and not to retreat. And as for the criticism that we don't fight in heat or in winter, I must note that even during the movement to save the homeland we put up tents in winter, and we met New Year in the Square, life has repeatedly proved that we will not retreat under any circumstances, " said Ishkhan Saghatelyan.

Speaking of the Resistance Movement's omissions, Ishkhan Saghatelian singled out several important episodes.

"One of our omissions is that we don't give citizens a complete picture of the dangers threatening the country. In other words, Nikol's phony peace agenda, which is essentially an agenda of new chaos, surrender, war, and loss, has proven more appealing to people than the agenda of struggle we offer. The second omission is that our struggle in the name of Artsakh and statehood was seen as a struggle for power, a struggle for the return of the former (authorities - ed.), a struggle in the context of opposition and power. The agenda, which is the agenda of achieving a decent peace and fighting for it, also faced a problem of international perception. The Armenian authorities, in cooperation with the Azerbaijani authorities, presented our movement to the international community as a revanchist struggle, my last visit to Europe was a clear proof of that, when there was a very wrong international perception of our movement. Finally, we failed to make the participants of our movement, our sympathizers and supporters part of the daily struggle. There is a huge anti-Nikol mass in Armenia, the majority of our population understands that we are being led to destruction, but we haven't managed to involve these citizens in the struggle. We need to solve these problems so that we can be more organized in the next phase. We need to get an organized army of our supporters, we need a quality organization to take this government out in the streets. We couldn't solve this problem either," Ishkhan Saghatelyan noted.

Asked whether a single opposition candidate for prime minister will be named at the next stage of the struggle, Ishkhan Saghatelyan said that if the opposition goes through parliament by way of impeachment, they are required by law to present a candidate for prime minister.

"The candidate will not be determined in party cabinets, but with the participation of the people. We are not avoiding this question, but these days one comes as a savior, another as a leader, and a third as a hero on a horse who will come and lead the country out of the current situation, but I assure you there are no saviors. It is our compatriots who are ready to fight. They must find the forces that will go all the way, that are ready to fight selflessly in the name of the Motherland, that there must be unity around the Motherland. Is there a need to nominate a candidate? Yes, this task is before us," he said.
