On this symbolic day we have gathered in the name of our country, which was reborn as a result of struggle, persistence and exploits, former Armenian Ambassador to Poland and former head of the Constitutional Court staff Edgar Ghazaryan said during the rally demanding the resignation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the Republic Square in Yerevan.

He noted that the rally was supposed to be held on the Republic Square.

"We legally applied to the mayor's office to hold the rally. However, the city authorities, instead of making decisions in the interests of the people, submitting to the body under the Prime Minister of Armenia (the Police), groundlessly banned the rally on the occasion of the Declaration of Independence, suggesting to hold it in the square named after the Bolshevik leader, Stepan Shaumyan. But we managed to appeal against the decision and to have the rally held on the Republic Square.

It has a symbolic nature. We won't put up with their decisions, but will fight for our rights in a legal way. We are here today not only because of our will but also because of the court decision," Ghazaryan added.

He recalled that the process of formation of the Armenian state's independence went in parallel with the struggle for survival, the Karabakh war.

"Our people were forced to take up arms and defend their home. In this struggle we suffered great human losses, the brightest sons of the Fatherland gave their lives for the independence of Armenia and Artsakh, in the name of peace," the former ambassador stressed.

The participants of the rally observed a moment of silence in memory of the fallen defenders of the homeland, and also sang the Armenian anthem.
