The new route of the Berdzor corridor will be launched in the first week of September this year, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Artsakh Hayk Khanumyan told Armenpress.

"Until then the Stepanakert-Berdzor-Goris highway will operate. An alternative route will operate along the new southern corridor. Movement along the new road will start only after all the checkpoints of the Russian peacekeeping forces are deployed. A temporary 4.5 km long section will be ready during this time; part of it has already been laid with asphalt and will be completed in the next few days. In the first week of September, traffic will be moving along the new road," the minister explained.

According to him, the temporary section of the new highway bypasses Berdzor, Aghavno and Nerkin Sus and then connects to the Aghavno-Tegh road, about 3 km from Aghavno.

The head of the department added that the process of relocating infrastructures is actively continuing. "The problem of communication has already been solved. It will take time to move the power lines, and in terms of gas supply, as I said, we need to look for other solutions," Hayk Khanumyan said.

Today the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh reported that the Shushi-Berdzor-Goris section of the interstate highway connecting Artsakh and Armenia was opened bilaterally and its security was ensured by Russian peacekeepers.
