The UK is donating underwater drones to Ukraine and is training Ukrainian personnel in the UK to use them to clear mines from the coast, the country's Defense Ministry said.
Six autonomous mine-searching vehicles will be sent to the country to help detect mines in the waters off its coast. Three of these will be provided from UK stocks and three more will be purchased from industry.
The lightweight autonomous vehicle is designed for use in shallow coastal environments, operating effectively at depths of up to 100 meters to detect, locate and identify mines with an array of sensors so that the Ukrainian Navy can destroy them.
In the coming months, dozens of Ukrainian Navy personnel will be trained to operate drones, with the first group already in training.
