Mikhail Gorbachev, the first and only president of the ex-USSR, died Tuesday evening at the age of 92. This was reported to RIA Novosti by the Central Clinical Hospital.
"Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev died this evening after a serious and prolonged illness," informs the Central Clinical Hospital.
As TASS reports, referring to one of Gorbachev's entourage, he will be buried in the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow, in the family grave—next to his wife.
Mikhail Gorbachev was the first and only president of the former USSR, from 1990-1991. He stepped down in this capacity on December 25, 1991. And the next day, the Soviet Union ceased to exist, Kommersant writes.
