YEREVAN. – Zhoghovurd newspaper of Armenia writes: According to Zhoghovurd daily’s information, the former commander of the Artsakh [(Nagorno-Karabakh)] Defense Army [ex-defense minister and chief advisor to the Artsakh President] Mikayel Arzumanyan was sent a notice several times to come and appear before the investigative body, but he did not appear, as a result of which the investigative body made a decision to apprehend him and detained him on his way to Armenia.
And in which criminal case exactly was Mikayel Arzumanyan questioned and charged? Zhoghovurd daily learned that they questioned him within the framework of the criminal case of not carrying out the protection of the [Artsakh] city of Shushi, and the charge refers to the process of not carrying out the protection of Shushi and handing [it] over [to Azerbaijan during the war in the fall of 2020].
And what did Arzumanyan say at the investigative body? He did not submit a specific argument to all the questions of the investigator; only at the end he said that he does not accept the charge [against him].
Let's remind that Arzumanyan was apprehended on the way to Yerevan and detained for 72 hours. Time will tell whether or not he will be arrested by court order.
