The Spanish government sent two planes and six trucks with military aid, including ammunition for heavy artillery weapons, to Ukraine.
On Wednesday, the first two flights carrying Spanish weapons were dispatched from the Naval Station Rota (Cadiz province in Andalusia). They carry ammunition for large-caliber field artillery to Ukraine, the government communiqué reads. The weapons are provided free of charge, five or six flights are planned for their transfer.
According to Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles, these deliveries will total 75 pallets of ammunition.
In addition, six trucks have already departed from Spain in response to an urgent request from the Ukrainian authorities for supplies and uniforms for winter conditions. Six more trucks are expected to depart on Wednesday, bringing the total to 25 in the next few days.
A week ago, the Spanish government reported that it had prepared 30,000 field uniforms, 15,600 jackets, 15,000 water- and windproof suits and several thousand pieces of warm clothing for Kiev.
