Mikayel Arzumanyan—Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) ex-Defense Minister, Defense Army former Commander, and Chief Advisor to the Artsakh President—has been arrested. This information was reported on Facebook by lawyer Yerem Sargsyan on Thursday morning.

"As expected, the court fulfilled its mission and arrested Mikyael Arzumanyan. The show continues..." Sargsyan wrote.

On Tuesday, it was announced that Mikayel Arzumanyan was detained on the charge of official carelessness during the organization of the defense of Shushi city and adjacent regions of Artsakh during the 44-day war in the fall of 2020.

On Wednesday, the term of Arzumanyan's detention expired and he was released from custody. But it became known that a motion to have him arrested was submitted to the court.

Mikayel Arzumanyan was appointed Artsakh Defense Minister and Defense Army Commander in the last phase of the 44-day war, on October 27, 2020, replacing Jalal Harutyunyan, and was relieved of this position in September 2021.
