President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced the holding of early presidential elections in Kazakhstan in autumn 2022, Tengrinews.kz reports.

“I propose to hold snap presidential elections this fall. For the successful implementation of comprehensive reforms on the way to creating a just Kazakhstan, a new trust mandate of the people is needed. For me, the interests of the state are above all. Therefore, I am ready to shorten my term of office and go to early presidential elections.

It is also necessary to reconsider the number and duration of the term of office of the President. I recommend limiting the president's term to one term of 7 years. But re-election is prohibited,” Tokayev said, speaking with the Address.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev delivered a Message to the people of Kazakhstan at a joint meeting of both chambers of the Parliament. The main part of the speech of the Head of State was devoted to the socio-economic development of the country.

Voicing the Address, the President also stated that next year elections of deputies of the Mazhilis and maslikhats would be held in Kazakhstan, then a government would be formed.

In general, according to the Head of State, from 2023 the country will restart and update all the main political institutions.
