The detention condition of Mher Yenokyan, who is in prison for about 26 years and is serving a life sentence, has been mitigated. Nona Navikyan, head of the public relations department of the Penitentiary Service of Armenia, told about this to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

"Based on the decision of the court of first instance, on August 19, 2022, Mher Yenokyan was transferred from the semi-open regime to the mild conditions of the low security zone," Navikyan noted.

Yenokyan was sentenced to death in 1996 on charges of brutally murdering a fellow university classmate. But in 2003, when the death penalty was abolished in Armenia, his aforesaid sentence was commuted to life in prison.
