Armen Harutyunyan, the former Head of the Missile Troops and Artillery Department of the Armenian Armed Forces, has been released on bail after being in custody for more than two months in the criminal case on the procurement of low-quality artillery shells. His lawyer Hakob Yenokyan informed Armenian News-NEWS.am about this.

On June 17, the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia had announced that Harutyunyan was detained within the framework of the investigation of the aforesaid criminal case being investigated by the NSS Investigation Department.

According to the NSS statement, Harutyunyan had signed a contract to purchase low-quality artillery shells for US$1,083,000 and, and this had caused serious material consequences for Armenia.
