Ukraine expects to receive 5 billion euros in macro-financial assistance from the European Union in the coming week to support the economy and the army and prepare for the approaching winter, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said on Sunday, Reuters reported.

"This will help to ensure the stability of our economy, support of the army and the ... heating season", Shmyhal said in a statement on Telegram ahead of talks with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

Shmyhal, who arrived in Berlin Saturday night, is expected to meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and other officials.

Germany is expected to deliver modern air defense systems to Ukraine this fall, the Ukrainian foreign minister added.
