Focusing the attention of the international community and Russia on the Ukrainian issue may lead to the destabilization of the situation in the South Caucasus. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this in his address at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Russia.

According to him, the history of mankind consists of a chain and sequence of difficult times, and therefore any crisis brings new risks but opens new opportunities.

"Times are not easy for our region either, as the challenges that have existed for a long time—and they are challenges related to security—are getting worse. This is due to the created situation," said Pashinyan. "There is concern that this could lead to destabilization of our region."

He recalled that a similar situation was created in 2020 when Azerbaijan, taking advantage of the fact that the attention of the world community and Russia was focused on the coronavirus pandemic, had started a war.

"We hope that by closely cooperating with international partners and Russia, Armenia will be able to manage the situation in the region. This is important also for global security," added the Armenian PM.
