Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan, accompanied by RA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States Lilit Makunts, visited the Salina Training Center in Kansas during his September 6 working visit to the United States.
According to the press service of the Armenian Defense Ministry, at the center Suren Papikian met with Adjutant General of Kansas, Commander of the National Guard, Major General David Weishaar.
During the meeting, a number of issues related to the interaction between Armenia and Kansas within the U.S. federal partnership program were discussed. The Secretary of Defense praised the current level of cooperation, emphasizing the great potential of the peacekeeping mission, military education and exercises, and military medicine. In his turn, Maj. Gen. David Weishaar noted that the Republic of Armenia has been a traditional partner of Kansas for decades and expressed readiness to do his best to develop cooperation in the areas of mutual interest. At the end of the meeting, the delegation headed by the Armenian Defense Minister toured the Salina training center, familiarized themselves with the training process, organization of exercises and maneuvers, the statement reads.
