The Armenian authorities will provide additional protection measures to those who report corruption. Deputy minister of justice Yeranuhi Tumanyants said this during Monday’s parliamentary debates on the package of bills on amendments and addenda to the Law on Warning System and related laws.

Thus, whistle blowing about corruption violations will be received not only in state, but also in municipal, as well as in private institutions and companies of public interest.

"That is, the protection will apply not only to the employees of the public sector, but also to the employees of the aforementioned companies and institutions," explained Tumanyants.

Additionally, legal protection will be provided to these whistleblowers in the event of disclosure by immediate management. According to the deputy minister of justice, they will be protected from dismissal, as well as possible attacks and property damage.

But this protection will apply only to conscientious whistleblowers. We are talking, in particular, about those who provide exclusively truthful information. The conscientiousness of these whistleblowers will be determined by the law enforcement officers.
