Kapan, Goris, Jermuk, Vardenis and surrounding communities of Armenia have been under intensive shelling for over two hours, Ombudsman Kristine Grigoryan said in a statement.

"According to the information we have received, civilian infrastructures are also being targeted. This is a flagrant violation of the ceasefire that has been being prepared in recent days by a neighboring state. These illegal actions must be stopped immediately," the statement said.

Grigoryan said she will send all information to international partners and structures.

Azerbaijan opened fire on Tuesday night near the Armenian borders. The reports have been confirmed by the Armenian defense ministry spokesperson who said that the adversary also used UAVs.

The defense ministry said it will regularly issue official reports on the developments of the situation.
