YEREVAN. – Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan had a telephonic conversation Tuesday morning with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Mirzoyan informed Lavrov about the current situation as a result of Azerbaijan's aggression, since the early hours of Tuesday, against the sovereign territory of Armenia, Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.

Starting from 12:05am on Tuesday, the units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces started firing intensively—from artillery and large-caliber firearms—at Armenia’s positions toward Goris, Kapan, Sotk, Jermuk, Artanish, and Ishkhanasar. The adversary is using drones, too. As a result of this large-scale provocation by the Azerbaijani side, an intense shootout has begun. The adversary is attacking both military and civilian objects, and is carrying out positional advance operations in some directions. Positional battles are going on. The Ministry of Defense informs that the Armenian side has casualties and wounded; the data is being verified.
