For several hours now, there has been no Azerbaijani firing or shelling in the areas of Nerkin Hand, Srashen, and Tsav villages near Kapan city. Governor Robert Ghukasyan of Armenia’s Syunik Province told about this to Armenian News-NEWS.am on Tuesday night.

"As of at around 8pm, no sounds of shooting or shelling were heard in the area of Nerkin Hand, Srashen, Tsav villages," the governor said.

And the mayor of Goris city, Arush Arushanyan, said that there have been no Azerbaijani shots or shelling in the direction of Goris for about three hours now.

"I have been in Goris for more than two hours now, there are no shots [fired], everything is under the control of the [Armenian] army, the army is fulfilling the task set before it. The battles have stopped, and that's why we have come down from the [combat] positions, the first army corps is performing its task at a high level," said the mayor of Goris.

According to the Ministry of Defense (MOD) of Armenia, as of 9pm Tuesday, the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border continues to be tense.

"Nevertheless, the fire direction of both the shelling of Armenian positions, settlements and civil infrastructures, and the shooting of the positional battles ongoing in the direction of Nerkin Hand, Verin Shorzha, Artanish, and Sotk have weakened significantly," the MOD had added.
