YEREVAN. – The Ministry of Defense (MOD) of Azerbaijan issued a statement claiming that Armenian army units shelled Azerbaijani combat positions on the night of September 13-14. Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned about this from the MOD of the Republic of Armenia (RA).

"This is another piece of disinformation, which, as we have already become convinced, serves as an information base to carry out military aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia.

As mentioned, this night, the Azerbaijani armed forces, targeting both military and civilian infrastructures [of Armenia], used combat UAVs. And intensive [Azerbaijani] shelling, particularly targeting the [Armenian] combat positions and border settlements located in the direction of Jermuk [city] and Verin Shorzha [village of Armenia], also has started since the morning.

The adversary gets a worthy retaliation. The RA armed forces carry out the combat tasks set before them in full extent.

As of 12pm, the intensity of the skirmish has considerably reduced in the remaining directions of the adversary's aggression," also reads, in particular, the respective statement by the MOD of Armenia.

At 12:05am on Tuesday, the armed forces of Azerbaijan began to carry out an aggression—using artillery, large-caliber firearms, and UAVs, too—towards Armenian combat positions in the direction of Goris, Kapan, Sotk, Jermuk, Artanish, and Ishkhanasar settlements of Armenia. The adversary targeted both military and civilian objects, and carried out positional advancement operations in some directions. The Armenian side has 49 casualties and 80 wounded; three of the latter are civilians.
