Azerbaijan must immediately stop attacks on the territory of Armeni, said Freedom House President Michael J. Abramowitz.

Azerbaijani armed forces must immediately stop their deadly attacks on Armenian territory and join the ongoing peace process facilitated by the EU, the U.S. and Russia. Relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia should be conducted through diplomacy and negotiations, not through artillery and drone strikes.

The peoples of Armenia and Azerbaijan deserve peace and security, he said.

Military attacks on sovereign states have no place in the rules-based international order, so we call on the U.S. government, other democracies, and international organizations to call for an immediate cease-fire.
