The situation in the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia became tense Thursday morning during the speech by opposition MP Gegham Manukyan.
In his remarks, Manukyan stated that it is the complete collapse of the policy of the incumbent Armenian authorities that has brought this ruin.
After that, numerous members of the NA ruling majority faction started shouting and responding to him.
Subsequently, NA vice-speaker Hakob Arshakyan, who is moderating the session, called on the lawmakers in attendance to keep calm.
But Manukyan continued: "The people are on the verge of outburst. Understand that there is only one way out of this situation: new authorities, a new government, a new prime minister who can take [Armenia] out of this situation. It's not time to save [incumbent PM] Nikol [Pashinyan]; it's time to save the motherland!"
Then the situation at the NA Sessions’ Hall became tense.
Hakob Arshakyan announced a 30-minute recess and tried to escort Gegham Manukyan and another opposition MP Agnesa Khamoyan out of the hall.
