The incident on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan has nothing to do with Karabakh, Russian President Vladimir Putin told journalists in the margins of the SCO summit in Samarkand.

"The latest border incident has nothing to do with Karabakh at all, it is in a completely different region, on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan," Putin said.

He stressed that the conflict on the border was localized under Russia's influence: "We regret that and, of course, the victims who happened there. This conflict was localized under Russia's influence, and I hope it will continue to be so."
