The Russian Orthodox Church has announced its readiness to contribute to the start of a dialogue between the spiritual leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia. This was announced by Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk,  Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church, Info-24 reports.

Metropolitan Anthony said that after being appointed to the aforesaid position, he had met with Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims' Board.

According to Metropolitan Anthony, the Russian Orthodox Church is ready to participate in establishing a dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia—together with the spiritual leaders of the two countries.

The last meeting between Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, chairman Allahshukur Pashazade of the Caucasus Muslims' Board, and Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia was held in October 2021. The leader of the Russian Orthodox Church had called on the two sides to resolve the conflict pacifically and pledged to assist in resolving it.
