More than 30 thousand people took part in a protest against the rise in prices in Austria, RIA Novosti reports.

According to the Austrian Trade Union Federation, about 20,000 people took to the streets in Vienna.

RIA Novosti police reported that the action is taking place peacefully.

The rally resulted in a march through the center of Vienna.

Representatives of trade unions and public organizations participating in the action demanded to introduce changes in government policy, guarantees of social rights, interference in market mechanisms in order to prevent excess profits of large companies against the background of the energy crisis.

Reinforced police squads are on duty at the site of the action, and the street along which the demonstration route passes is blocked.

The increase in inflation in the country has become a source of serious challenges for citizens.
