Armenia will face more difficult times, and Azerbaijan will not retreat from its plans and will try to continue its aggressive policy. touching upon the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, political analyst Argishti Kiviryan told NEWS.am.

Referring to Azerbaijan's aggression, the political scientist noted that Baku's global goal is at least to open a corridor. "One of the goals is for Armenia to voluntarily agree to give a corridor and (fulfill - ed.) the rest of the demands that Azerbaijan makes," he said.

Kiviryan noted that although the Azerbaijanis have occupied new heights in some sections, they are quite vulnerable in these areas, as the RA Armed Forces Chief of General Staff noted. According to him, although the Armenian side has an opportunity to destroy them, it will drag it out, as in previous cases, until the Azerbaijanis turn these positions into a beachhead for attack. "The Armenian side can destroy them very easily at the moment, but as always, the Armenian side is waiting for a miracle, waiting for the Azerbaijanis to soften up. Azerbaijanis will not soften," he said, adding that the Azerbaijani side has agreed to a ceasefire because it has already penetrated into Armenian territory, created a bridgehead for itself, will continue to strengthen it and prepare for further attack.

The political scientist noted that at the moment there is no force that can force the Azerbaijanis to retreat, only the Armenian side can do that. "After the 2020 war, we can say that they have formed this belief that if they continue to pressure the Armenian side, they will achieve what they want. If they know that the Armenian side will not sign whatever they demand, they will back down."

According to him, the Azerbaijanis have realized that the Armenian side succumbs to pressure, and they will continue to press until they get the desired signature. "Because if they even capture Yerevan, but don't get the desired signature, they will turn into the leader of a genocidal nation and a genocidal people all over the world, including Aliyev," he said.

Speaking about the attitude and position of the West, the political scientist said that the approach of the West is as follows: there is a question that must be solved in order for them to pursue their interests in the region. In the past, the issue was not solved because both sides had equal strength, but now the Armenian side has lost, and the issue can be solved by putting even more pressure on the Armenian side, making various promises to convince Armenia to put its signature and, in the West's view, solve the issue.

"That is, the West, which today indicates the importance of peace, if sincerely admit it, must say that it represents peace at the expense of Armenian interests, because no one pressured Azerbaijan. And the West also knows that Azerbaijan will not succumb to pressure, especially since the West depends on Azerbaijan for oil and gas and Aliyev can afford a lot," he said, adding that for the same reason the democratic West has turned a blind eye to the actions of dictatorial Azerbaijan for years and will do the same now, in the case of the Armenians.
