YEREVAN. – Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan, who is in the United Kingdom on a working visit, attended the state funeral ceremony for Queen Elizabeth II.

Also, President Khachaturyan participated in the farewell ceremony for Queen Elizabeth, and made a note in the book of mourning opened at the Lancaster House, the President's office informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The Armenian President took part also in the official reception organized by newly crowned King Charles III—and which took place in the Buckingham Palace.

Monday morning, President Khachaturyan participated in the farewell service for Queen Elizabeth, which took place in Westminster Abbey, after which the President attended the reception organized by the UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs.

During the receptions, President Khachaturyan had private talks with the leaders of a number of countries and senior officials of international organizations.

During the meetings, the Armenian President spoke on the consequences of the recent military aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of Armenia, the targeting of the civilian population and infrastructure of Armenia by the Azerbaijani armed forces, as well as Azerbaijan’s gross violations of international and humanitarian law.

The Nagorno-Karabakh issue and geopolitical events were also touched upon.

To note, Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan was slammed by the UK press for being photographed and talking with his companions during the last farewell ceremony for Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Hall.
