The German government's takeover of utility company Uniper is expected to cost more than 30 billion euros, Business Insider reported, citing government sources.

The government is close to agreeing on a takeover deal, the publication wrote, noting that Berlin, in parallel with the acquisition, is still planning to introduce a gas tax for consumers starting Oct. 1.

In response to the report, a source told Reuters that the agreement is in the finishing line.
