President Joe Biden intends to nominate U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Lynne Tracy as a candidate for the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Russian Federation, the White House announced.

Lynne Tracy was the Senior Advisor for Russia in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs at the Department of State, and before that she was the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow.

Previously, Tracy served as deputy assistant secretary of state for Central Asia in the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs and as director for Central Asia at the National Security Council.

Tracy holds a bachelor's degree in Soviet studies from the University of Georgia and a doctorate in law from the University of Akron.
