The German government intends to nationalize the gas-importing company Sefe, formerly Gazprom Germania, to protect it from bankruptcy, Spiegel Online reported.
A spokesman for the economy ministry said talks on Sefe's future were ongoing.
The former Gazprom Germania has been under federal guardianship since April to secure Germany's gas supply.
