The security of the Persian Gulf region will be achieved through the withdrawal of extra-regional powers, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf announced, reports Mehr.

Today the Iranian Armed Forces are a symbol of peace and stability in the region and an envoy of national power of the Islamic Republic of Iran.  We observe insecurity in various regions including Southwest Asia, the Caucasus, the Mediterranean coast and parts of Africa," he said, adding that this happens at a time when the Iranian Armed Forces provide security in the country.

According to him, trans-regional countries seek to destabilize the Persian Gulf region in order to protect "the illegitimate Zionist regime and plunder the resources of the region."
