At least 42 people were killed due to floods in the Nigerian states of Katsuna and Niger, reports the publication Cable, citing local authorities.

According to the emergency agency of Niger state, 18 residents of the state were killed in the west of the country, in total, the floods affected almost 50 thousand people.

Besides, 24 people were killed in Katsina state in northern Nigeria, more than 18,000 local residents were forced to leave their homes, said the state emergency agency. It is noted that the floods destroyed more than 16 thousand houses and flooded more than 1.6 thousand agricultural lands.
