Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the press service of the Armenian government informed NEWS.am. Nikol Pashinyan praised the efforts of the U.S. government aimed at addressing the consequences of the September 13-14 aggression of the Azerbaijani armed forces against the sovereign territory of Armenia and stressed the importance of consistent steps undertaken in that direction. The sides also stressed the necessity of withdrawal of the Azerbaijani armed forces from the Republic of Armenia sovereign territory as well as the unconditional observance of the ceasefire regime.

The interlocutors touched upon the results of the October 6 quadrilateral meeting held in Prague between the Prime Minister of Armenia, the President of France, the President of the European Council and the President of Azerbaijan. They stressed the importance of developing a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan based on the UN Charter and the Alma Ata Declaration of 1991, as well as carrying out works for the delimitation of the border and ensuring the activity of the EU civilian mission on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.  The sides also touched upon security issues, protection of the rights of Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh, creation of an international negotiation mechanism between Stepanakert and Baku, and the return of Armenian prisoners of war held in Azerbaijan.

The Armenian Prime Minister also shared his impressions about his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Antony Blinken expressed U.S. readiness to further promote the negotiation process, as well as the establishment of peace and stability in the South Caucasus region.
