The situation in the South Caucasus remains very tense and alarming, Swedish delegate Boriana Aberg said during PACE discussions.

"A few days ago I received a video which depicts the horrific execution of a woman, an Armenian prisoner of war. I am still under the impression of these brutal scenes and inhuman cruelty of what is happening, and this is not the only video where such a horrific crime takes place against the background of widespread military aggression against the territorial integrity of Armenia by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. These videos show war crimes, gruesome scenes of killing Armenian POWs, torture of Armenian servicemen, including women, and desecration of corpses.  The European Union, the US, France, Germany and a number of other countries have expressed a clear demand for a full and impartial investigation into these brutal acts. Our position is clear, the perpetrators of war crimes must be brought to justice, and we have noted that the military prosecutor's office in Azerbaijan has launched a full investigation...The situation in the South Caucasus remains very tense and alarming. A situation has arisen where one member state is attacking another member state. Anything we ignore will lead to new violence, new atrocities," she noted.
