The Turkish president has called on the West not to support Greece's actions.

Reflecting on the current tension in relations between Turkey and Greece, Recep Tayyip Erdogan slammed the position of Brussels in this matter.

The Turkish president called on the EU to invite Greece to a dialogue with Turkey on a bilateral basis, instead of supporting "Athens' illegal initiatives under the pretext of European unity and solidarity," Anadolu Agency reported.

"Events in the world prove that Turkey is irreplaceable for the European Union and the European region," Erdogan added.

The head of the Turkish state noted that the participants of the Prague summit of the European Political Community last week lauded the mediating role of Turkey towards the settlement of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
