Turkey has started working with Azerbaijan to increase the capacity of the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP) to ensure the energy security of Europe, President Tayyip Erdogan said.

 "We are going through a process in which we are taking important steps in the field of energy. We have made preparations, filling our gas storage facilities to 100 percent. Together with Azerbaijan, we started work on increasing the capacity of TANAP to 32 billion cubic meters to ensure the security of Europe's energy supply," TGRT Haber TV channel quoted the Turkish leader as saying.

Earlier, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Donmez said the decision was made to double the capacity of TANAP from 16 to 32 billion cubic meters.
