The Secretary General of the Council of Europe (CoE), Marija Pejcinovic Buric, on Monday addressed a letter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned from the representation of Armenia to the CoE.

In the letter, the Secretary General of the CoE requests “detailed and precise information” from the Azerbaijani foreign ministry regarding Azerbaijan’s possible violations of Articles 2 and 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights—and based on the recent video footage of the extrajudicial killings of Armenian prisoners of war (POWs) by Azerbaijan.

In her letter, Pejcinovic Buric states that the CoE will “follow this issue very closely in line with the mandate provided by the European Convention on Human Rights, to ensure full respect of the Organisation’s standards.”
