YEREVAN. – An Armenian delegation, led by speaker Alen Simonyan of the Republic of Armenia National Assembly (RA NA), is on a three-day official visit to the Russian Federation (RF), the NA informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

At the suggestion of the Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin of the Russian State Duma, the Armenian parliamentarians on Tuesday met with the representatives of Faction of the All-Russian Political Party “UNITED RUSSIA.”

“We are now living in a very turbulent time, which has a direct impact on countries and peoples,” the RA NA President noted at the beginning of the meeting, saying that he expects effective and sincere cooperation from Russian partners on security issues and the achievement of lasting peace in the region.

The Russian partners pointed out the fact of successful implementation of joint projects, in particular, the interaction of inter-parliamentary friendship groups was highly appreciated.

The situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border was discussed. The RA NA President informed that on Monday the Azerbaijani Armed Forces again fired at the border. The Armenian side briefed the Russian colleagues on the situation created in the resort town of Jermuk as a result of the Azerbaijani military aggression and the damages caused to the infrastructure.

“We, as the ruling party, are ready to hold discussions in various formats and consultations on the issues you raised,” the leader of the aforesaid faction Vladimir Vasiliev noted.

Matters related to the problems of the Armenians living in Russia were discussed, too.
