Moscow has not received any specific proposals through diplomatic channels to hold talks in Turkey between Russia, Germany, the United States, Britain and France, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing.

"At the moment, while I was preparing for the briefing, there was nothing additional to what the Russian side stated yesterday. Russia has not received any specific proposals through diplomatic channels to hold talks in Turkey between Moscow, Berlin, Washington, London and Paris," she said. "The situation is developing dynamically, I do not know what will happen next. At the time of the briefing I can say again that no such information has been received."

On Monday, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia had not received any specific proposals through diplomatic channels for talks between Moscow, Berlin, Washington, London and Paris to be held in Turkey. According to the press secretary of the Russian leader, before speculating on the hypothetical possibility of such negotiations, "we need to understand the purpose of such a meeting, to understand why, with whom, and what could be the result of such a meeting."

Peskov did not rule out that Russian and Turkish leaders Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan might discuss Ankara's initiative for such negotiations in Astana.
