Deputies of the lower chamber of the Belarusian parliament adopted in the first reading amendments to the legislation, which intends not to let citizens leave country in the interests of national security.

Under the bill, the State Security Committee is invited to temporarily restrict the departure of individuals from Belarus in the interests of national security. In addition, the document provides for additional regulation of the order of departure abroad by employees of government agencies.

As explained by deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic Gennady Kazakevich, the document provides for travel restrictions for up to six months in the interests of national security.

According to him, the competent authorities of the country record the increased attention of foreign intelligence agencies to the citizens of Belarus among military personnel, employees and civilians of paramilitary forces and paramilitary organizations, as well as public servants.

To come into force the bill must be adopted by the lower chamber in the second reading, it must also be approved by the upper house of parliament. At the last stage, the document must be signed by the president of Belarus.
