Russia is ready to contribute to the implementation of the trilateral statements of the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan and to discuss what needs to be done for their speedy implementation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, RIA Novosti reported.

"We certainly want to discuss today how things are going in your negotiations with Azerbaijan. I know that there have been contacts in Europe quite recently, the media is full of various rumors and speculations. Of course, it would be important to consider today what else we could do to make the three trilateral statements of the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan implement them faster," Lavrov said, opening talks with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan in Astana.

He noted that much has already been done for normalization, including the unblocking of transport links, there are "plans" on the delimitation of borders. "Full normalization of relations between our close neighbors and friends fully meets our interests, we are ready to contribute to this process," the Russian minister added.

Mirzoyan noted that there are many issues regarding which Armenia wants to hear Russia's position. "We are fully committed to the three trilateral statements of the leaders of our states, we appreciate the personal contribution of President (Vladimir) Putin and Russia in establishing peace and normalizing relations with Azerbaijan. In parallel, we see that Azerbaijan's appetite only grows, we are talking not only about Nagorno Karabakh, although the problems there are not solved, but also about the sovereign territories of the Republic of Armenia," the Armenian Foreign Minister said. "Here we - Armenia, as you said, Russia's accomplice and strategic partner - expect a clear position of the Russian Federation," he said.

Mirzoyan noted that the issue was discussed at the UN Security Council session, "and there some countries, with which there is no long history of friendship and strategic partnership, made statements that more objectively and clearly reflect the situation that has developed on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border." "Events are going on intensively, negotiations are going on intensively. There are so many parties that offer their mediation efforts, approaches, platforms. It is very important for us to know Russia's position on these issues, we want to feel Russia's back and move forward on the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations in the spirit of trilateral agreements, we are ready for it," the Armenian minister stressed.
