The crisis situation of the European energy market will not affect the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU); the union will reorient its energy sector towards the east. The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) minister in charge of energy and infrastructure told about this to RIA Novosti.

"That situation did not have a negative impact on us [i.e., the EEU member countries]. Always, if one door closes, another one opens. Now, in general, the energy branch of the Eurasian Economic Union is oriented towards the east, and this orientation will strengthen. China is a big market, all our energy resources will be sold there," Arzybek Kozhoshev said during the Russian Energy Week.

The EEC minister added that the policy of European countries to decline from Russian energy resources will have a negative impact on their economic situation.

"This year, the citizens of the European Union will really feel how the events that are happening in the world will negatively affect them economically," Kozhoshev said, in particular.

To note, Armenia also is a member in the Eurasian Economic Union.
