VAYK. – Youth initiative “We Won’t Keep Silence” uploaded a video on death of the newborn at the maternity home of Vayk city.

The case occurred with a family from Gndevaz village. A woman, who was ready to deliver, was taken to Vayk hospital on August 11. She had to wait for the chief doctor Metaksia Hovhannisyan. The doctor refused to come to the hospital, as she was washing her linens, and decided to give instructions over the phone, despite the woman had difficulty in delivering child.

“The hospital had no equipment, not even oxygen. Moreover, the nurse was very indifferent to the newborn. The baby started breathing only in an hour, when the oxygen was available. He was taken to Yerevan,” one of the relatives told and added that the chief doctor threatened them to keep silent as she claimed to have close relations in the Armenian special service.
