The EU tried to send a civil mission to the Azerbaijani side of the border with Armenia, Baku strongly rejected it, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said, Interfax reported.

"On October 6, on the margins of the new platform of the European political community in Prague, a quadripartite meeting was held with the French president, the president of the European Council, the Armenian prime minister and the Azerbaijani president. During the meeting, after negotiations lasting several hours, it was decided to send a 40-member European Union civil mission to the territory of Armenia near the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Later we found out that there will be 50 people. They will stay there for at least two months and the purpose of this mission, as we see it and that is why we gave our consent for that, is to help the sides to conduct the border and define the issues related to delimitation. There was an attempt to send this mission from the Azerbaijani side as well, which was resolutely rejected by us," Aliyev said Friday at the CIS summit in Astana.

According to him, "so the mission will be located on the territory of Armenia, in the CSTO zone of responsibility." "Yesterday, the first group of European representatives arrived in Armenia to determine the dislocation of this mission," the Azerbaijani president noted.
