Apple has been fined again in Brazil for selling smartphones without a charging adapter in the kit, reports Reuters.

As it became known to journalists of the agency, on Thursday, October 13, the court of the state of Sao Paulo ruled on a lawsuit filed against Apple by the Association of Borrowers, Consumers and Taxpayers. The court banned the sale of smartphones without a charger - in addition to the obligation the American company was fined 100 million reais.

The document said that Apple abused the law by selling iPhones without a charger. Apple has responded that it will file an appeal in response to the decision. According to Apple's Brazilian website, the new iPhone 14 series smartphones are available in the country by pre-order, with sales set to start on October 14.

The company had previously claimed that it had abandoned the free charging accessory bundled with the iPhone in favor of the environment. "Clearly, under the justification of a ‘green initiative’, the defendant is imposing a mandatory purchase on the consumer of charger adapters previously supplied with the product,” the court ruled. Apple has been selling smartphones without a charging adapter since the fall of 2020.

In early September, Brazilian authorities fined Apple and banned the sale of the brand's smartphones without charging accessories bundled with them. Regulatory officials revoked the registration for the sale of all iPhones without a charger.
