President Recep Tayyip Erdogan believes the Trakya region in northwestern Turkey could be the most convenient location for the new gas hub to Europe proposed by his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, Anadolu reported.

The Turkish leader expressed this idea in a conversation with journalists accompanying him to the Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia in Astana.

According to him, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey and the relevant agencies on the Russian side were instructed to work on joint steps in this direction.

"The most suitable location will be determined for the gas hub. Turkey already has a gas hub, which works to meet its domestic needs. The new hub will be aimed at international supplies. The Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and the Russian agencies will work together and present us the results, after which concrete steps will be taken. No delays are planned," Erdogan said.

At the same time, the head of state noted that all the necessary security measures will be taken during the creation of the new gas hub.
