The US will welcome the efforts of any country aimed at normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Vedant Patel, Principal Deputy Spokesperson at the Bureau of Global Public Affairs at the US Department of State, noted about this during Friday’s State Department press briefing.

“If any country is eager to engage with us on Armenia and Azerbaijan and help us get to a peaceful resolution, we certainly would welcome that. But we have not seen any kind of effort from Russia as you might be referring to,” Patel said, when asked whether the US is concerned that Russia might jeopardize the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process through the mediation of the West

Earlier, the representative of the Russian foreign ministry, Maria Zakharova, had said that the West is trying to interfere in the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and to suppress Russia's mediation efforts in this regard.

"We know from history that EU missions have not lead to real normalization," Zakharova had added.
