US Assistant to the President for National Security Jake Sullivan said the United States is taking a series of aggressive steps aimed at supporting protesters in Iran, CNN reported.
Earlier, U.S. President Joe Biden said that the protests in Iran would continue for a long time, the U.S. administration opposed the use of violence against protesters.
Mass protests erupted in Iran in September as women took to the streets after the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who died of a heart attack after allegedly being detained by the vice-police, the edification patrol. Eyewitnesses believe that Amini was abused by the police because of her loose hijab.
