At the initial stage, there will be about 40 observers as part of the European Union (EU) civilian mission in the territory of Armenia. A high-ranking representative of the EU informed reporters about this in Brussels, TASS reported.

The foreign ministers of the 27 EU member countries will hold a planning meeting in Luxembourg on Monday; the main issue on the agenda is the conflict in Ukraine.

In addition, the EU foreign ministers are expected to approve the civilian mission to assist in the resolution of the problem on the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia. This mission is expected to be confirmed today.

According to the aforesaid EU diplomat, however, the respective details are not noted yet.

The diplomat added that he can only say that there will be about 40 observers in the first stage of this civilian mission.

Also, he stressed that due to the urgency of this matter, the first group of these observers that will go to the Armenia-Azerbaijan border will be from the EU mission in Georgia.
