Around 50 MPs from all political groups of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) have signed a written declaration demanding the immediate withdrawal of the Azerbaijani armed forces from Armenia.

Noting that Azerbaijan launched a large-scale military aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia in September, these PACE lawmakers emphasized that with these unprovoked acts of military aggression, Azerbaijan also targeted the civilian infrastructure of Armenian settlements, as a result of which hundreds of people died—including civilians.

There are horrific testimonies of torture, mutilation of captured and dead soldiers—including women, the declaration also says.

These PACE legislators strongly condemned Azerbaijan's aggression, which is a gross violation of the UN Charter, the Helsinki Final Act, international humanitarian law, and Azerbaijan's obligations to the Council of Europe.

They condemned also the deliberate killings, tortures, and inhumane treatment of the Armenian prisoners of war (POWs) by the Azerbaijani military, whose videos were posted on social media.

They called on Azerbaijan to refrain from further acts of aggression against the territorial integrity of Armenia and to participate in the negotiation process.

Also, these PACE MPs demanded the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the Azerbaijani armed forces from the sovereign territory of Armenia and the immediate returning of all POWs and other detainees.
